Proud in Purple – AFG showcases support for LGBTQIA+ community

wear-it-purple-day

AFG staff across Australia came out in force to celebrate Wear it Purple Day on August 26, showing their support for young LGBTQIA+ People based across Australia.

Although AFG supports acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community year-round, staff donned their best purple on the day to show we stand in solidarity and celebrate our rainbow colleagues, clients and communities.

Co-chair of the AFG Diversity & Inclusion Committee Darryl Schmetz said AFG supports an inclusive, supportive, safe, and empowering workplace, where all staff are encouraged to bring their full selves to work.

The 2022 celebration marked the second year that AFG has participated in Wear it Purple Day.

Wear it Purple Day was founded in 2010, in response to young people taking their own lives as a result of bullying and harassment from the lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity.

The student-run not-for-profit organisation strives to foster supportive, safe, empowering and inclusive environments for LGBTQIA+ youth in the community.
