AFG has delivered almost 40 repurposed laptops to support people at risk of homelessness.
The Surface Pro laptops – replaced as part of a standardisation program across the business – were wiped of all information, tested and cleaned, then handed over to Anglicare WA – which is part of the consortium that runs Foyer Oxford in Perth.
Twenty laptops and chargers were donated in 2023, followed by a further 17 in 2024.
AFG is principal partner of the Foyer Foundation, which is advocating and driving the increase in youth Foyers across Australia. Youth Foyers offer 16-24 year olds a safe and stable place to live for up to two years, integrating housing, education, employment and life skills support.
The laptops were allocated according to an application process among Foyer Oxford residents, with the remainder shared with Anglicare WA’s other youth housing programs including YES!Housing and Y-Shac.
The initiative to recycle our electronic devices is driven by the AFG Information Technology Service Delivery Team and the AFG Green Team.
