AFG in Perth has saved a whopping 10,000 cans from landfill and raised $1000 toward helping preserve WA’s treasured black cockatoos in the process.
AFG’s Green Team has been collecting cans and bottles at its Perth head office since the start of 2023, returning them to the Containers for Change scheme, each earning 10c which is paid directly to the Kaarakin Black Cockatoo Conservation Centre.
Kaarakin rescues wild black cockatoos in distress, having been struck by vehicles, fallen, shot, pulled from their nests, or attacked by ravens, cats or other birds.
The birds are rehabilitated at Kaarakin’s Perth Hills site before being released back into the wild.
AFG is proud to be reducing landfill while helping raise funds for these endangered birds. Our fund raising efforts for these birds continues.
