Bringing Harvard Education to AFG Brokers

The prestigious AFG Academy has wrapped up for 2019, delivering a 3-day once in a lifetime opportunity for over 70 AFG brokers. Run by current and former Harvard professors, David Collis and Walter Kuemmerle, AFG Academy offers our brokers an opportunity to build strategic and practical skills across market, competition and business development.

Condensing a Harvard Education into 3 days

AFG Academy is split into two streams; Academy alumni, a syllabus for returning AFG Academy students and a new intake steam for brokers attending for the first time.

David Bailey CEO of AFG said, “Following a Harvard study tour, we immediately started to plan how we could bring a similar high quality, intensive education experience to our Brokers in Australia. The course that professors Collis and Kuemmerle have developed is like no other in Australia”.

The course content centred around a syllabus of over 10 Harvard Business Review case-studies, focused discussions, lectures and a range of assignments aimed at testing and reinforcing strategic business principles. The course content was designed to upskill our new intake class and extend our AFG Academy alumni even further, covering topics ranging from business administration strategy and business transformation through to effective team management and leadership.

AFG Academy was launched in response to the needs of our brokers and an understanding that, as an aggregator, we have a role to play in facilitating, guiding and working with our brokers to grow and enhance their businesses. Our industry is dynamic and changing and it’s our mission to provide our brokers with the tools to capitalise and thrive.

With the second year of AFG Academy wrapped up, our brokers are heading back to their businesses with a refreshed and revitalised business toolkit designed to help them ask the right questions, take the right actions and use the right playbook.
